AST POWERSTATION Big In China!

Rich and I were asked to go to China to set up the dampers on 3 Civic FD2 competition cars, all equipped with AST 3 way dampers. We also took with us our test driver Phil Keen, who met with us a couple of days after.

On arrival we were taken to the Zuhai international circuit where KC Racing technologies have premises. Our first job was to align the cars, but unfortunately we couldn’t take with us the Beissbarth 8 camera aligner we are used to so we had to use our initiative!

Once we were happy with an initial setup we sent our test driver out onto the circuit. After a few warm-up laps Phil came back into the pits and gave us some feedback. We made adjustments to the dampers, and after checking the tyre temperatures and pressures I decided to change the spring rates, so back to the garages where we had a huge range of springs to choose from.

Phil’s feedback as always was exceptional, and after a few more test sessions and wheel alignments I found a great setting for the dampers. Even on Phil’s first time at the circuit he put in some very respectable times with amazing consistency.

All in all a good weeks testing in preparation for the Macau Grand Prix.
